Electric cars run more than 1,000 km per charge

CHINA'S Zeekr - Geely's sub-brand - began delivering to customers the 001 model with a 140 kWh battery and a price of 57,300 USD.

Vehicle deliveries began on May 16, and 001 is also the electric vehicle with the longest journey per charge in the world, according to Zeekr in the press release. The car uses CATL's new generation battery line - named Qilin (Unicorn) after a creature in Chinese mythology.

However, the Zeekr 001 version that runs more than 1,000 km is only sold in a limited quantity of 1,000 vehicles. Another version with a 100 kWh battery pack with a 606 km range has been available since April 2021 with prices from 42,600 USD.

Zeekr 001 is a 5-door, 5-seater electric hatchback. Vehicle length is 4,970 mm, width 1,999 mm, height 1,560 mm and wheelbase 3,005 mm. Equipment of the 2023 Zeekr 001 includes an 8.8-inch digital clock, a 14.7-inch infotainment screen, and a 5.7-inch screen for the rear seats. The interior uses Nappa material combined with other materials.

The most advanced version is equipped with a sports package with 22-inch alloy rims, Brembo brakes with 6 pistons, Alcantara material and sports seats.

As a sub-brand of Geely, Zeekr was launched in March 2021 and the first model, Zeekr 001, was introduced a month later before starting deliveries in October of the same year. By November 2022, the second model, MPV 009, appeared and deliveries began in January this year.

On April 12, Zeekr launched its third product, Zeekr X, with the expectation of setting a milestone in the small luxury car segment, with prices starting from only 27,500 USD.

Also in April, Zeekr delivered 8,101 vehicles, an increase of 279.08% over the same period in 2022, and an increase of 21.58% compared to March. Zeekr is also the first company to use the new Qilin battery line from CATL, as announced in August 2022.
